Modest Summer Trend Guide 2017 How to dress trendy & modest in summer!

Let’s be honest ladies, summer is the hardest season to stay modest and covered while not roasting alive in the heat!

I feel ya!

So I have compiled a guide on how to rock summer hottest trends while staying cute and covered! (You can store away your cardi’s ladies!)

**You’ll definitely want to keep scrolling 😉 **

 Summer Trends 2017: Everything Embroidered!

Feminine, Floral, & Fringe Embroidered Kimonos

FullSizeRender 9

Okay all the heart eyes for this trend! As far as I’m concerned you can just go ahead and embroider everything!

There’s just something so romantically bohemian about blue and white embroidery.

PRO TIP: Trendy Style on a Budget!

This college student loves to save as much money as possible and there are two stores that I always make sure to check out!

Ross and Rue 21!

Here’s the thing, not only will these two stores keep you in the know, but ultimately they will save you money! Remember trends will eventually fade away (unless it’s the infamous chambray shirt) then you’d probably be better off saving as much as you can.

FullSizeRender 16 Oh and did I mention that my kimono is actually on sale for $9.99 right now?! #YAS

Summer Trend 2017: Dainty Layered Necklaces & Wood Accessories

FullSizeRender 12

There’s nothing more chic than a dainty 5 layered necklace! Also, there is nothing more tragic/irritating when they become tangled! You may want to hang these necklaces to avoid the panic of untangling them last minute for your outfit. ( R.I.P to all the necklaces broken due to my impatience)

Ah yes, the maxi dress, a modest girl’s version of yoga pants ❤

If you’ve ever tried one of these beauties on a hot summer day they are the most comfortable and relieving articles of clothing EVER!

Happy Holidays Featuring NEW PhotoScan App By Google Photos! ModestlyHot Throwback Photos!

Happy Holidays Guys!!

There are two kinds of people in this world:

  1. Those who listen to Christmas music right at the beginning of October (or sooner lol)
  2. And those who just HAVE to wait until after Thanksgiving

……Aaand then theres me who refuses to comply with the norm and listens to Christmas music year round #sorrynotsorry

Needless to say, Thanksgiving break was a much needed time of rest. Even though I was not able to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year; I was grateful to spend Thanksgiving in a church member’s home and had a blast! (Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez!)

I was still missing my family over the break, but looking at our old photos of past holidays (and a lot of phone calls) really helped me stay connected with them over the holiday break.

Now if you are anything like my family; you probably have that infamous box of old photo prints stashed in a box somewhere in the creepy attic/basement that no one dares to go in because of the hassle. (or in my case the fear of the creepy, icky spiders one might find up there!)  😦

Regardless, it is a sad thing that we do not look at these *priceless gems* more often mainly because all the photographs we have are saved instantly on our mobile devices.

img_7553

Well that is no longer the case because Google Photos has created a tool, a brand-new app called PhotoScan which allows us to bring these forgotten pictures back to life in very high quality, no glare photographs! Mind you, it is not just a”picture of a picture” cause we are all guilty of doing that, but instead it uses your cell-phone’s built in technology as an image scanner.

img_7556

All you do is simply touch the four corners of the photograph print you want to save and within seconds you have your timeless photo saved as a digital, high resolution image on your phone FOREVER!

img_7554

The possibilities are endless!

Bad hair day pictures?

Chubby baby pictures?

“Seeing what your parents really looked like before they had you” pictures?

And of course the classic “what was I thinking?!” pictures! (Now those are fun! 😉

Imagine having all those memories readily available on your phone to share with the world because why not?! Everyone needs a laugh or two at some good ol’ throwback pics 😉

So with the help of Google Photo Scan here are my throwback holiday pics that I’m probably going to regret posting but YOLO er something like that 😛

Too short?  Too tight?  Too sheer?

Trust me ladies, being a modest girl in this era is difficult with all the revealing cutouts, mini length skirts, and crop tops galore surround our malls and stores nationwide.

But there is hope lovelies!! (this is starting to sound like a sermon) 😉

Two words that will change your shopping experience forever……

I can totally see the navy color transitioning well into the fall season simply by adding a trench coat/cardigan!

❄️Disney Fashion Week! ❄️⛄️Featuring Anna from Frozen⛄️❄️

Happy Saturday Lovelies!💙
Yes it’s time for my favorite look book of all time.. Disney Fashion Week!!
IMG_3235.JPG
The part of my blog where I channel my inner 5 year old dreams!😂❄️

IMG_3232.JPG
This week is I decided on being Anna from Frozen!😍❄️💙❄️💙❄️

IMG_4433.JPG

IMG_4432.JPG

IMG_4399.JPG

IMG_4430.JPG
I think out of all the Disney looks I’ve recreated this one by far has been the easiest for sure! I chose to recreate Anna’s Coronation Look because in all honesty I cannot rock pig tails like she can! So without further ado, let’s get started on the basics of this look!

Here are some tips and tricks to look like Anna with things you already have around the house!

Step 1: Anna’s Coronation Hair

IMG_4431.JPG

This hairstyle was so easy to recreate! Basically all you do, is part your hair in the middle and take your hair from both sides behind your ear and braid the sections.
Next you want to tease your crown and secure it with bobby pins.
Now Anna’s bun is pulled to the back of her head but for me personally I prefer to make a cute side bun that hangs low to frame my face.
Add some finishing hairspray and you’re done!

IMG_4435.JPG

Step 2: Anna’s Floral Shirt +Skirt!

Of course we can’t forget about her signature black floral top!!
I’ve seen plenty of tutorials on how to make one but I actually purchased a very inexpensive dress from EBay!

IMG_4436.PNG
The top is so cute in itself but the skirt was very cheap looking and it resembled too much like a cosplay and not a fashion inspired outfit , so instead I cut the skirt part out and wore my satin green ball gown skirt!

IMG_4430-0.JPG

Step 3: Anna’s Makeup!

I so enjoyed this makeup look and will definitely be rocking it again!
So for Anna’s makeup we got to remember that she’s in a very cold/freezing environment❄️⛄️, thus rosy pinched cheeks is only natural that she’d have!

IMG_4434.JPG

IMG_4386.JPG
For my eye makeup I applied very lightly a luminescent white as my base.
For my crease I added a soft brown all over the lid and further defined my crease using a dark brown from my Lorac Unzipped Palette!

For a bit more fun I added a cool toned violet shadow on my blending brush and softly applied it to my lower lash line for that extra “ice cold ” feel! ❄️⛄️

Lips! If you notice Anna not only has rosy bright pink cheeks but also a bright pink lip color!
I used my fav Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in “Cherry Picking” ! These lipsticks are amazing!! So rich in pigment and smooth to apply oh and they’re a steal at just $1.99!!

IMG_4376.JPG
And that’s it!!
Three easy steps to achieve Anna from Frozen!❄️⛄️
I hope you all have found this helpful and til next time!!
Xoxo,
Ashley💕

DIY Disney Princess Nail Art💕👑+ Outfits!

Hello Everyone!
Today’s post is uber exciting because it’s all about Disney princesses!👑😍❤️
I’ll be showing you two different nail art designs inspired by Disney Princesses! 👑
Let’s get Started!!💕

IMG_3232.JPG
My first nail tutorial is actually fool proof and anyone yes Anyone can do it!
For one of my Disney princess photoshoots I wanted to dress up my nails to go along with my outfit!
IMG_3507.JPG
I found this adorable shop on Etsy called Nana’s Imagination ! 👑 I immediately fell in major love with these Disney princess Nail decals!!😍😍😍
The shipping was phenomenal she shipped within the hour !😳
When they arrived I immediately grabbed all my nail supplies and got to “work”.LOL

You will need:
~White Nail polish (love love this White out one from Rue 21!)
~ Top Coat
~ Cup of Water
~ Cooking Spray (optional)

IMG_3500-0.JPG
1. First you want to paint two coats of your opaque white nail polish! Immediately spritz your wet nails with the cooking spray. This is optional but for the most impatient girl on the planet (me😜) it’s a must! Literally your nails will be smooth and dry to the touch within a minute if not less! It’s a lifesaver!

IMG_3502.JPG

IMG_3502-0.JPG
2. Next you want to take a paper towel and remove the excess oil from your nails and dry them off a bit.
Get a glass of water ready and dip your nail decals in the water face down! Make sure to cut as close to the princess image as possible! (Let your Princesses go for a swim!👑lol)

IMG_3503.JPG
After about 10 seconds or so, you will notice that the nail decal will start peeling away from the cardstock.
I used a toothpick to grab the nail decal and I placed it on my nails one by one!

IMG_3504.JPG
3. Lastly Seal your princesses with a topcoat and you’re done!!
I have to rave about this top coat I found at Dollar Tree! It’s Ahmazing!! Fun fact about me at the age of 14 I used to do acrylic nails as my job back in the day, so I’ve tried out the best nail polishes/topcoats and I’ve got to say that this one from the Dollar Tree is equal if not better to those big name brands! For $1 you can’t beat it!

IMG_3506.JPG
On a side note how cute is cinderella’a glass slipper?!

IMG_3507-0.JPG

Beauty and the Beast Nail Tutorial🌹
For my next nail tutorial will be inspired by my favorite Disney Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast!😍🌹

IMG_3678.JPG
You will need:
~Yellow Nail Polish
~ Red Acrylic Paint
~Green Acrylic Paint
~ Topcoat
~Gold Glitter (optional)
1. Paint all your nails except your thumb and ring finger a bright yellow.

IMG_3683.JPG
2. Draw the Enchanted Rose!
Take your red and green acrylic paint and make a small swirl in the center of your nail.
You can also use nail polish but I find that paint is thicker and not so runny!

IMG_3704.JPG
3. Make “c’s ” all round your center swirl as you form your rose! Lastly draw the green stem with a couple of thorns! Seal with topcoat and you’re done! Not bad for someone who is horrible at drawing! LOL😅

IMG_3682.JPG
For some added Glam I added glitter to the tips of my nails and of course a matching Belle to go along with it! 🌹

IMG_3680.JPG

IMG_3679.JPG

IMG_3681.JPG
I hope you all enjoyed these nail looks!
Below I have attached some on my Disney Princess Inspired Looks!
Til Next Time,
God Bless!

Styling a Polka Dot Skirt 3 Ways! Featuring Dainty Jewells!

Hello and Happy Saturday!!
Hooray for a 3 day weekend!!😍

Let’s talk Polka dots!! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they disliked polka dots!
They’re universally flattering and a timeless classic in the fashion world!
Today I will be sharing with you different ways to style a classic polkadot skirt and maybe just maybe you’ll be inspired to step outside of your comfort zone!

Let’s jump right in!!

1. Option 1: Solids
One reason we all love the polkadot print is because we can pair them up with virtually any color!!
For a safe and easy look, try a solid colored blouse on top of your black and white polka dot skirt! Totally get your colored shirts from Ross they’re always so inexpensive and you can purchase a bunch for under $30!

Have fun with the endless color choices! Red,Cobalt,Hot Pink,Yellow Black etc…
On the “Fashion Risk Meter” this look is at a comfortable 1! Great for beginners and everyone really!

IMG_3190.JPG

IMG_3196.JPG

IMG_3188.JPG

IMG_3189.JPG

IMG_3195.JPG

IMG_3210.PNG
2. Option 2: Stripes
Now we’re starting to get a little more daring with some pattern mixing!
Stripes and Polkadots work well in this outfit because they both have something in common: the colors black and white.
When pattern mixing you want to find a unifying theme! Also make sure that the stripes are smaller print than the polkadots and you’re ready to go!
On the “Fashion Risk Meter” this one ranks a 5! Perfect for pattern mixing beginners to step out of their comfort zone a tad bit!

IMG_3198.JPG

IMG_3199.JPG

IMG_3200.JPG
3. Option 3: Floral

Now I know what you’re thinking
“Floral and polkadots?!? Did a 5 year old dress you?”
Haha I assure you that it can work when done properly!
What you need to remember that a polkadot skirt is considered as a “neutral”, thus allowing you to pair it up with something colorful and fun!
To avoid looking like you dressed yourself in the dark lol the floral print MUST be smaller size print than the polkadot or vice versa!
If you pair the patterns up with the same size print then you will achieve a non harmonious outfit that in all honesty looks a bit “off”. (I think you know what I mean 🙂

IMG_3183.JPG

IMG_3180.JPG

IMG_3181.JPG

IMG_3182.JPG

IMG_3187.JPG

IMG_3186.JPG

IMG_3184.JPG
On the “Fashion Risk Meter” this one definitely is a solid 10!
Trust me It took me a while to get used to pattern mixing but remember to start small!
Do one pattern mixing at a time until you get comfortable with more!
Before you know you’ll be mixing all sorts of pattern and textures!
Well that wraps up today’s post!
I have inserted a direct link to my polkadot pencil skirt:
Dainty Jewell’s Polka Dot Skirt

God Bless You
And have a terrific Sunday Service tomorrow!
Xoxo,
Ashley

Modest in Red, White & Blue! 4th of July Outfits Look Book!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I wrote it all in caps so you could feel the excitement I have !!

I am so excited for tomorrow because its one of my favorite holidays ever!!! 4th of July of course!!

IMG_2979

I believe out of all colors I have the most of is red, white and navy blue!

Its such a classic, timeless color combination that will always look refined and classy!

Another thing that most of you have noticed is that I LOVE ANCHORS!!!

AAAH!

So let’s get on to the lookbook!

For look #1 I paired up my classic chambray denim shirt with my new current favorite anchor print skater skirt!!

A sweet lady on Instagram actually makes these fun skirts!!

IMG_2948

IMG_2951

For my shoes I didn’t want to pair up this look with the obvious color red, but i wanted to do some pattern mixing!

So navy and white striped flats it was! I got these adorable striped flats from Jane.com! I got them for a steal of just $6!!

IMG_2947

IMG_2949

IMG_3009

Now onto the next look! I was out on a photoshoot with my lovely friend Mildred at City Creek (we got sidetracked by cute clothes lol)  and saw that The Limited was having a clearance sale on most of their pencil skirts! i immediately grabbed this gorgeous red and navy lace pencil skirt and it was a perfect fit! I wore my chambray shirt once again and some classy nude Louboutins.

IMG_2954

IMG_2952

This is a great look for the office while still being patriotic and festive!

IMG_2957

For my last look I wore my chevron midi skirt paired up with my .. yep you guessed it! My Anchor top!

LOL! This top I just HAD to get even though I probably had a similar one purchased last year from Rue!

But come on now, does this not resemble J.Crew?! and for just $7!

IMG_2983

IMG_2975

IMG_2976

I love how this outfit just works despite being very different patterns!

I kept my shoes neutral since there was alot going on!

IMG_2985-0

IMG_2978

Look #4 or is it look #3?! I forget and am too lazy to scroll back up to check lol!

I think this is my most repeated outfit that I have yet to photograph til today! LOL

I would always wear this same exact outfit and somehow something would always pop up that I couldn’t get a picture posted!!

I love this skirt i bought from Downeast Basics! The Picnic Skirt was the cutest skirt I have ever seen!

IMG_2986

There’s nothing more American than a classic Coke!

IMG_2995

Random fact of the day: Even though I was dying to chug down this delicious coke (plus it was really hot out) I can’t drink soda since the carbonation makes me ill. But on the bright side it makes an adorable prop!

IMG_2990

IMG_2987

IMG_2997

I once again tied up my chambray shirt to give it a fun vibe!

IMG_2991

Well I hope you didn’t mind the extremely long post!

Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!!!

God Bless You!

XOXO,

Ashley

How to style a Striped Midi Skirt! Featuring Taralynn’s Boutique!

Hello Happy Friday!!
The week is done and the weekend fun is just about to start!
How do you guys like to spend your weekend? Shopping? Hiking? Netflix? Or all of the above?!💃 lol
For today’s post I will be showing you 2 ways to style a striped midi skirt!
IMG_2796.JPG
Now this skirt is absolutely GORGEOUS! The pleating, material and fit makes this skirt one of my current favs from Taralynn’s Boutique!

Last night me and Keara from @modest_style went to a darling tea party hosted by Kingdom and State!
It was a tea party and I knew this skirt would be just right for the social affair!
I wanted something pretty but also with short sleeves because it was extremely hot out!

IMG_2811-0.JPG

Now because this skirt is a stand alone piece all on it’s own it really didn’t need any more “busy work ” up top!
So whenever a skirt is just So fabulous I pair it up with a simple graphic tee!

IMG_2808-0.JPG
You may recognize this shirt from my previous hauls! The “Bless Her ❤️” tee was a match made in heaven for this skirt! I scored it on Jane.com for just $14!
Cents of Style definitely knows how to make a good graphic tee!👍
And gurllll let me tell ya a tee was definitely the way to go!

IMG_2787.JPG

Now for look #2
I decided to recreate Stylish Petites outfit!
I am a HUGE fan of her style! She’s literally perfect!!

IMG_2794-1.PNG

IMG_2798-0.JPG
Chambray and Stripes are just a match made in heaven! And add a fancy schmacy necklace on top and that’s all you need!😍✨

IMG_2810-0.JPG

IMG_2799.JPG

IMG_2806-0.JPG
Well that’s a wrap!
I hope you guys try these looks out with your striped midi skirts!❤️
Til Next Time!
Xoxo,
Ashley

How to sell your used clothes online! Easy!

I have had so much success selling my used clothes online over this past year and I want to share a few tips and tricks that I’ve learned (and am still learning) about how to make money out of clothes that need some tlc.20140404-134729.jpg

Lets start with Poshmark! You’re probably sick of me mentioning this app all over my blog and Instagram but it really is such a good place to sell your clothes! Recently Poshmark has updated their policies and shipping/commission rates. It used to be $6.99 shipping for items priced under $25 and $4.99 shipping anything over $25, if you were purchasing an item over $25 shipping would not be a problem. But say you wanted to purchase a dress that cost $10, shipping would be almost $7! (its no  longer a deal anymore!) But thank goodness Poshmark now has a flat rate shipping of $4.99 on ALL orders!

Selling your clothes on Poshmark is very easy and the setting is like a boutique. All you do is snap a picture and upload it onto Poshmark and describe your listing.(Brand, condition, size, color etc.)

Big moneymaker Alert!

Big moneymaker Alert!

My #1 tip for selling on Poshmark is sharing other people’s listings. What I like to do is find the ”big moneymakers” (Poshers who have 10k or more followers) and share their listings as often as I can. It may take a week or so until they actually notice you but when they do share even if its just one listing prepare to make multiple trips to the post office! It really works! Also taking pretty pictures helps out alot ! Beware of taking ”too professional looking” shots. What I mean by that is not to make it look like a structured clothing website, but make it more personal and inviting. For example if you have a candle burning in the background of the shoes you’re trying to sell don’t crop it out just leave it. Let’s be honest humans are nosy they like to see exactly where they are buying their clothes from. 20140404-134746.jpg 20140404-134801.jpg

You’ve sold your first item! Great! Now what? Poshmark will send you a shipping label and all you have to do it print it out and ship it! (Love that part!) Poshmark does let you list your clothes for free (unlike Ebay) but they do take a cut from your sale, $2.95 for all sales under $15 and then 20% commission anything over $15.

I think its pretty reasonable compared to selling it to a local consignment shop that give you way less than what you paid for.

My Second favorite app to sell my clothes is Vinted. This is a fairly new app to me but the first day I posted 5 items of clothing I sold all of them that same night!

If you are a newbie to all of this I would highly recommend to get Vinted since it’s very simple and fast to make a sale.

Plus with Vinted you can swap clothes which is always fun!

Another app is Threadflip which I don’t recommend at all, its very glitchy and sales are not that great.

Another great way to sell your clothes is through Instagram! I must admit it is more tedious since you have to do all of the shipping procedures yourself but you do get to keep all the profit.

So don’t just toss your used clothes away sell them to buy even more cute clothes ! (More shoes is always a good idea 😉

Til Next Time
