Summer Style Trends: Nautical Inspired Modest Outfit featuring Taralynn’s Boutique!

Happy Tuesday! Summer fashion is just about to kick into gear and you better believe that I will be bringing out all my nautical/anchor pieces!

I cannot commence to explain why this is one of my favorite trends of all time!

The color navy this year has by far been my favorite color! (Sorry pink!) It is so classy and elegant, and the color combinations with navy are endless! Navy is the new black!

I recently became  Taralynn’s Boutique new clothing representative! I am so grateful about this opportunity to be part of their team of representatives!

They recently sent me this GORGEOUS red striped midi skirt to review for you guys!

I already own their classic black and white striped midi skirt (still a fav!) and was dying to acquire a red and white one especially for a nautical inspired outfit!

This beautiful midi skirt is completely modest, has perfect pleats, and is made to last!

My outfit inspiration came from Pinterest from Rachel Parcell , whose style I adore!! I had the pleasure of meeting her and her sister Emily Jackson for the first time last year at the Sperry Event! She truly has a sweet spirit along with an amazing sense of style! (Lol don’t mind my Disney inspired outfit! I had a photoshoot that day and had no time to change!)

I realize this could be a great 4th of July outfit, but I couldn’t wait any longer to wear it!

My top was purchased second hand from Poshmark in a size XS, originally from Cynthia Rowley!

This top has a classy anchor print all over it, with three anchor printed buttons on the shoulders for a nice nautical detail!

And a white teardrop statement necklace to top it all off!

Navy, red, white, cognac, and anchors complete this preppy nautical outfit!

I would highly suggest to invest in these striped midi skirts from Taralynn’s Boutique!

You will have so many endless combinations with these skirts and the best part is that they are made with quality to last!

Don’t even get me started on how much I LOVE when dresses and skirts have built in pockets! Epitome of comfy!!

A good tip that always works for me when I have a skirt with a busy print like this one is to pick one color from the skirt and splash it on your top!
For example, this skirt can be worn with lavender, yellow, forest green, white and hot pink since they are all found in this skirt!

Feminine Floral + Classic Stripes Outfit! + How to Pattern Mixing!

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

I hope you all had a fabulous week and a great Sunday service!

I had the pleasure of going to Thanksgiving Point’s Tulip Festival this week! All you Utah Locals know what I’m talking about!

It’s a gorgeous festival where more than 250,000 tulips are in bloom!

It’s so picturesque!

A week or so before going to the Tulip Festival I entered a giveaway on Instagram that the Salt Lake Project was hosting!

I rarely enter giveaways but I thought it was worth a shot! (And I had a couple of minutes to spare before going to work lol)

The following week came rolling by and the giveaway was still fresh in my mind (which is odd for me since I tend to forget things like that!) but I wasn’t very hopeful that I was going to win. Later that day I was on the phone calling Thanksgiving Point to see if I could purchase tickets ahead of time and just as I looked down at my screen I saw an Instagram notification from the Salt Lake Project congratulating me for winning the tickets!! Woohoo!! I was so excited and very grateful!

For today’s church outfit I decided on wearing a new arrival from my boutique hitting the site tomorrow morning!

Ya’ll ready for this one?!

Yesssss! A striped floral ball gown skirt!! Oh my gorgeous you guys!! I think this might be my all time favorite skirt!!!

Immediately as I got the shipment I gasped out loud! It was pattern mixing perfection!!

I decided on having some fun and do some pattern mixing! You gals have been asking me on how to mix prints and I thought I would explain how to mix and match with patterns!                                                                                                      1. Stripes and Floral Print!

You can never go wrong with this combo!

Why does this work? Because the stripes are black and white thus making it a neutral!

Adding a pop of floral is like adding a pop of color!

If you are intimidated of mixing patterns just start small! For example adding a leopard belt to a striped pencil skirt is still mixing patterns but in a more toned down, less scary kinda way! Slowly begin to get more comfortable with mixing patterns and then you can start mixing and matching like a pro!

Another tip is to make sure that you do not focus on the different patterns but the colors!

As long as both the clothing items have unifying colors and go well with each other you are golden!

For example in my outfit today I have a black and white polka dot top paired up with my striped skirt, this works because the whites and the blacks both match up and are unifying colors throughout the outfit!

Also make sure whenever you are pattern mixing to make one print smaller than the other. Never wear the same size print together since it will look rather odd. Ex. The polkadots in my top are smaller than the stripes on my skirt!

The scenery at Thanksgiving Point was so gorgeous!

I was getting pretty tired from walking the 55 acres of Thanksgiving Point in the hot sun! Too bad the golf carts were all sold out! Hahaha I’m surprised my makeup held up! lol (Rimmel Lasting finish foundation is ahhmazing btw!)

My favorite place in Thanksgiving Point has to be the ”Secret Garden”!  It’s so quaint but romantic!

I truly felt like a classy princess in this skirt! I love how different outfits make you feel different things!

So many ways to express yourself without ever having to say a word!

$20 Oufit Challenge!!

Happy Pioneer Day to all my Utah followers! (Happy Thursday for everyone else lol)

I know, I know, The title is already sounding pretty crazy right?! I was inspired to do this challenge from watching a Youtube video on the $20 makeup challenge and saw that people changed it to the $20 Outfit Challenge! So pretty much you have to use your deal hunting skills to create an entire outfit, including shoes for $20 or less!  I was confident that I could find clothes for under $10 a piece but finding shoes under $10?! Now that’s a whole different story! I guess I could have gone cheap and bought dollar tree flip flops and called it a day but I really wanted to create something that I’d actually would wear on a daily basis. Most girls who did this tag went to their Forever 21 but ended up going over the budget.( Is it just me or is Forever 21 getting more expensive?) With that being said, I had initially thought to go to Rue 21. Now this was not only a $20 outfit challenge for me , it was also a 30 minute power shopping challenge since I had to get to work as well! To my surprise Rue 21 was having 50% OFF clearance items! (SCORE!) Right as I walked in I saw a ton of cute tops for just $3 a piece!

Yeah $3 tops!

I quickly grabbed the hot pink one and hurried to the skirts section. I found this adorable hot pink lip print midi skirt!!

So cute right?

Best part about it? It was only $9.99! I was in awe when I found $7  heels and flats! This was to good to be true! All their shoes and heels were just $7!!

$7 shoes? Um yes please

I bought these chic ankle strap black heels and couldn’t resist to pick up a couple of more pairs of flats! Later that night after work as I was trying on my outfit I really loved the way the skirt and top looked together but the shoes just didn’t seem to work with the midi skirt. So my shoe hunt begins again,but this time I really scored big time! I was at a local clearance warehouse looking at the shoes and these bad boys immediately caught my eye. Valentino was the first thing that popped in my head! They looked like the Valentino Rockstud pointed flats! In my head I was already at the checkout line purchasing them, being mentally prepared to shell out at least $20 bucks for them. To my surprise (again!) they were only $9.99!! So naturally I went ahead and picked up the nude ones as well! Surprise #3 came when the cashier was ringing me up and the screen said they were reduced to  $7 each! Yay!! $14 and some change I paid for both pairs!

So here’s the breakdown

Hot Pink Top : Rue 21—–> $3

Lip Print Midi Skirt : Rue 21—–> $9.99

Pearl Necklace : Thrifted—> .50cents

Black Studded Flats: Clearance Warehouse—-> $7.00

GRAND TOTAL : $20.49! Not exactly $20.00 but hey I was pretty close! lol

This was a super fun and exciting challenge for me and I would encourage you to try it out!!!

Day to Night Outfit

Hot pink, leather, and studs are whats happening in today’s outfit. I love this hot pink maxi skirt paired up with my favorite metal belt.

From Day to Night

For daytime I wore this super bright maxi skirt with a basic white tee. (pretty casual but still cute.)  Now for night time I added one of my all time favorite Poshmark finds which is this studded leather jacket! I didn’t even bother wearing heels since you won’t be able to see them anyways. Now can we just talk about how bright this maxi skirt is?! I love it!Its very soft and definitely one of the better quality maxi skirts I own.                                                                                                      What I found very flattering is the fit,most maxi skirts have a tendency to just ‘stick’ to my thighs really awkwardly,but this skirt is tight on my waist and flares out and I love that! (Fit and flare is the silhouette that works best with my body.) This outfit was the most comfortable thing I have worn in a while! (Gotta love maxi skirts!) I feel like I put all of my favorite clothing pieces into one outfit, like no joke I loove this skirt and the jacket and the belt and even the white t-shirt!

Happy Sunday ! Once again the struggle to wake up this morning was real. (My body refuses to wake up so early on the weekends). I wanted to do a causal laid back outfit but being the girly girl that I am does not allow me to do so,(seriously I wish I was joking).
Black and gold is just one of my favorite combinations! I dunno, but something about black and gold together has this “Kardashian” expensive feel to it. I totally had forgotten about this gorgeous skirt just sitting in my drawer! I have a tendency to buy and just shove it in my drawer for months.
I had seen this skirt all over the internet and was determined to find where it was sold! Turns out that I finally found it on Amazon for a great price!
Seriously this skirt looks like metal from afar but in reality it’s almost like crochet.
The problem I had with this skirt was that although it was knee length the black slit underneath was really short! But that didn’t stop me from purchasing it! I’d figure I’d just pop my black lace skirt extender underneath it! It totally worked and looked like one full length slit.

Leopard is a Neutral…

”As far as I’m concerned leopard is a neutral.” So true! 

I’m very particular when it comes to leopard print. It can’t be too orange/yellow, or the leopard spots too big or small. I also find that leopard print can go either way, it can look very chic and sexy or very tacky and cheap.(and we certainly do not want that!)

So I’m always on the hunt for that ”expensive looking” leopard print top, and I finally found it on Poshmark! By the way if you do not have the Poshmark app you need to get it asap! It’s exactly like Ebay but for clothes! My skirt is from Modest Closet! I adore this skirt! Its seriously the perfect pencil skirt and so affordable! I do recommend to get a size up, I’m normally a small but I got a size Medium and it fits perfectly! Leopard is a neutral since you can combine so many different colors with it. (ex: red and leopard, pink and leopard,blue and leopard, mint and leopard,etc.)

Princess skirt?

Sooo this outfit post is like a week overdue but no biggie right? (Jk I’m trying really hard to post at least once a week!)
Let’s talk tulle!! When I first saw this on poppyanddot website I immediately ordered it after a fellow blogger (Hi Amy!) on Instagram recommended it to me. It was very inexpensive, especially since it is a 5 layer tulle skirt. I was contemplating on buying one that cost well over $70, so naturally I jumped on the bandwagon when it was on sale for $15!

I just couldn’t say no to the price

It came super quick almost next day shipping! I’m not gunna lie i was a bit disappointed when I opened it up it was wayyy too poofy! (No duh what was I expecting with five layers of tulle?!) So I put off wearing it since it made my hips look huge! Lol!
But I decided to finally wear it when I found some “pinspiration” and recreated it.

A lil midnight scrolling on Pinterest and I found this cute outfit!

Everywhere I went people were complimenting my outfit. I guess I just had to find the right top   (which by the way it’s my new favorite!!)

Obsessed with this sheer sweetheart polka dot top!

It’s a sheer polka dot top from H&M which I believe is still available in stores now and my tulle skirt is from Poppy and Dot.
