LIFE UPDATE: Where have I been?!?! & Modest Fall Lace Dress featuring DownEast Basics 25 Year Anniversary!

Hello?

Is anyone out there?

What can I say? It has been awhile and you guys have just been so awesome and understanding through my college transition yet again!

The good thing is that I am finally all settled in and midterm examinations are over! (Can I get an amen to that?!)

amberr-77amberr-78

Exciting NEWS!! I have been a huge fan of DownEast Basics for years and they recently contacted me to help them celebrate their 25 year anniversary! #25yearsofdowneast

Processed with Snapseed.

DownEast holds a special place in my heart because they took a chance on me when I first started blogging and gave me that extra boost of encouragement that every blogger needs when they first start out. I am thrilled to see how God has blessed their company and how far they have come!

Reason #2 why I love DownEast is because they started from humble beginnings in my home state, Utah!

P.S. Every skirt girl needs to make a trip down to Utah “aka” modest shopping heaven! 14680509_10154567289693838_6897378747497153496_n.jpg

Their new fall collection has been released and I immediately knew that I wanted this “country chic” cream lace dress! Perfect for fall, spring, summer and even winter!

amberr-55amberr-54

I absolutely love the fit on this dress, the perfect fit and flare! It is very difficult to find fit and flare dresses that actually are long enough (40″length size small)!

amberr-5amberr-14

Since fall is my utmost favoritest (yes I realize that is not proper English grammar 😉 ), season of all, I had to do a fall themed carnival photoshoot.

It was quite comical pretending to shoot fall outfits when the temperatures were in the 70’s! #californiaweather

Accessories can instantly transition any outfit from season to season, so for that reason I chose my horse bit buckle belt, cognac riding boots, and a vintage inspired bucket style bag!

amberr-11amberr-15

That lace detailing though!!

Most bloggers hold extravagant floral arrangements, I as a broke college student hold a baby tumbleweed I found on the side of the road 😉 amberr-85amberr-86

Despite the lack of the color green out here, the desert does have a beauty of its own especially those amazing sunsets and sunrises!

Oh! Before I forget in celebration for their 25 year anniversary  DownEast is having a HUGE Anniversary SALE on different items every single day! DON’T MISS OUT! They are already pretty affordable and add a nice 25% OFF on top of that?! Yes please!

As always all the outfit details and links about this blog post will be neatly listed below for your convenience 😀

Meet My City Monday: Salt Lake City Eva’s Bakery & Kate Middleton Inspired Outfits!

img_4572

It’s that time again for another installment of “Meet My City Monday!” This week I will be featuring the cutest little bakery, Eva’s Bakery in downtown SLC!

slide1slide3

Arriving There: Eva’s Bakery in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City on Main street! Getting there is super simple even without the help of Google maps! You definitely will not miss it! The bakery stands out because it is a gorgeous royal blue with French decor!

Know Before You Go: Parking will most likely be on the curb of the busy street on Main, however there is usually a spot available depending on what time of day you go. If not, be prepared to park either at City Creek park or further down the street.

It is no secret that one of my favorite fashion icons hands down is the elegant Kate Middleton which today’s outfits were all inspired by her keen and elegant sense of fashion!

Look #1: Regal in Royal Blue

img_4739

img_4735-1img_4732-1img_4733img_4734img_4738-1

This beautiful white and royal blue midi skirt {with pockets btw!} reminds me of fine china that you may see at the Buckingham Palace. 😉

Of course a bright neon yellow was used to accentuate and complement the rich royal blue thanks to the use of the color wheel.

ModestlyHot PRO Tip: Use the color wheel to your fashion advantage when you don’t have a clue on what to wear!

Look #2: Blush on Blush Princess Formal Outfit

img_4696img_4695img_4694-1img_4689img_4688img_4691img_4692-1

I think this has to be one of my favorite outfits so far! I scored this gorgeous 1950’s blush colored peplum blazer from my local thrift store for just $5! Also paired this up with my new favorite skirt from Ross! Just $10

$15 scores you a Kate Middleton inspired outfit!

Mind. Blown.

img_4698img_4697img_4699

How gorgeous is this Pinterest famous statement necklace?! More details soon to come on where you can get your hands on one! My photographer and awesome friend Trish is about to launch her own jewelry and fashion line in the fall!!

img_4700-1

img_4701

Look #3: Pretty in Pink & Polkadots

img_4707img_4706-1img_4705

A simple pink on pink outfit with a pop of mint! A more casual (yet princess inspired) take on Kate Middleton’s fashion.

Special Thanks to the gorgeous and talented Charissa Lee who shot this whole photoshoot so quickly! (Because everyone knows I cannot keep up a straight face for more than an hour lol!)

All the outfit, photography and makeup used in this photoshoot will be listed down below!

God Bless and have a great Monday!

Happy National Ice Cream Day Featuring Halo Top Creamery!

img_4719

Happy Sundae Funday!

Sweet Treat Sunday?

Sunday A La Mode?

Clearly I had way too many opening lines for this blog post! (That’s a first!)

Whatever the title may be, I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

(Sorry I had to sneak that last one in 😉

img_4727

Happy National Ice Cream Day! It’s the All-American treat that never goes out of style!

I am a HUGE and I mean HUGE ice cream fan!! However most of you who are following me on SnapChat (if you haven’t already followed me on snapchat you totally should! 😉 Modestly.Hot)  know that I have been on a weight loss journey (coming soon to the blog) of losing 10 pounds! (Currently down 12! woohoo! )

As a result I have been reducing my calorie and sugar intake which meant ice

cream was totally off limits!

{INSERT Sad Emoji Face here}
Until the ice cream angels of Halo Top creamery enlightened me with information that I could have the entire pint of ice cream for only 240 calories a pint!

QUICK! Someone pinch me and grab me a spoon!

Even better a 1/2 cup of ice cream is just 60 calories with just 4g of sugar!

At last, Healthy Ice Cream!!

img_4725

This collaboration was a match made in heaven, not only because they came at the ice cream deprived stage of my life, but I couldn’t agree more with the branding of the gold foil top! (If you have not noticed we love our gold around here).

img_4724img_4722img_4723img_4726

The flavors I chose were Mint Chocolate Chip, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, and Lemon Cake.

What I immediately noticed as I opened the pint was that it stayed frozen for a longer time, which is explained on the back of the pint.

Halo Top does not use artificial softeners, no corn syrup, no synthetic growth hormones which explains why it freezes a little harder than the other guys!

But hey it is totally worth the wait!

img_4721

Here are quick mini reviews of each of the 4 flavors I chose:

Vanilla Bean:

PROS: Probably one of the most “natural” tasting ice creams of them all!

You can definitely taste the organic vanilla beans and the sea salt! None of that artificial “fake” tasting vanilla!

CONS: If you prefer ice cream full of “in your face” flavor, this pint may have your palette desiring for more.

However, I actually enjoy the softness in flavor without being overly sweet.

Chocolate:

PROS: This pint truly delivers on the authentic taste of cocoa beans! Strong but delightful!

Rich but not overindulgent where I wished I would have skipped dessert all together.

CONS: It tastes darker than milk chocolate, but not as potent as dark chocolate. Strictly  milk chocolate fans might opt for another flavor.

Lemon Cake:

PROS: Rich, creamy and you DEFINITELY won’t miss the cake at all!! It tastes exactly like a lemon cake! No joke! I know which pint I am reaching for when a cake craving at midnight strikes! SOOO GOOD!

CONS: It is the most rich out of all four flavors, you have been warned 😉

Mint Chocolate Chip:

PROS: Hands down my favorite one!! You wont miss out on any of the major competitors version of mint chocolate chip because this one is right up there with them! Plus its high packed with protein and low sugar!

CONS: There are no cons to this one. Period. 😀

How to Style a Tulle Skirt: Plaid & Tulle! Featuring Taralynns Boutique🍁🍃🍂✨🍂🍃🍁✨🍂🍃🍁✨🍂🍃🍁

Hello and Happy Sunday!!🎉🎉 I hope you all had a wonderful church service! Sunday mornings are always the best because I get to squeeze in a little bit more sleep! And by sleeping in I mean like sleeping in til 6:00am LOL

So today’s outfit was actually planned yesterday afternoon when I received this adorable package in my mailbox from Taralynn’s Boutique ! (SO EXCITING!😍😍😍😍) I opened up the package (like a gorilla btw😁) and saw the most amazing white tulle skirt ever!!

It’s like a white fluffy cloud of cuteness!!😍☁️ (according to my roommate it looks like a fluffy white cloud lol!☁️)

I gasped out loud and headed toward my dresser to pair up my new skirt with a plaid shirt!

You guys for ages I have been wanting to recreate this outfit on Pinterest! !It’s actually a fall themed wedding but could be worn for a cute contrasting fall outfit using a tulle skirt!

Fall was clearly on my mind and I decided  on wearing golds, coppers and burnt reds for today’s makeup!

I adore this lip color from Wet N wild which is actually an exact dupe for MAC’s Rebel lipstick! The only difference is the price💸 One is $2 and the other is $14! I bet you can guess which one I like more now 😉

For my hair I only spent a max of 10 minutes on it! I just teased the crown of my hair and added one of those hair pieces that look like a scrunchy to add more volume to my low side bun! Hello 90’s trend!)

I love plaid and tulle together because it dresses down the tulle skirt but looks so chic!
Of course you can’t have plaid without pearls!! 🙌🏻

I adore this white tulle skirt! This outfit would be great for Christmas!! I love the fact that this skirt is so stretchy in the waistline so it allows me to eat as much as I want without feeling like I’m going to explode!

LOL

I’ve had many tulle skirts over the past year but this one is probably the better structured one for sure! It keeps its shape all day long and I don’t feel the need to wear an extra tulle skirt underneath for volume!

I could see from the package that the skirt was so fluffy and full of life! Perfect for twirling 😉 (admit it you do it too !)

Well that’s all for today’s post!

Gotta head on out and take care of the 3 year olds! Wish me luck! 😉😊

God Bless,

Xoxo

💕Mint, Pink &Polkadots! +GIVEAWAY from Let’s Be Modest Shop!💕

Hello lovelies!!😍💕

Happy  Saturday to you!

I’m so excited to share today’s outfit post and there’s also going to be a giveaway so stay tuned til the end!

I was feeling a abut colorful today and went for my favorite color combo; pink and mint!😍💕💕

It’s been such a gorgeous past few days here in Lancaster🙌🏻🌻 The weather is cooling down, but it still feels like summer! I’m pretty used to cold weather back home in Utah  so when people say it’s “cold”here and it’s only 70 degrees I can’t help but be grateful that’s their coldest temp around here ! ⛄️❄️
I will say this though the winds are fierce!💨 When I first came here I thought it was going to be difficult to be modest because of the heat, but actually the Lancaster winds make modesty 100x difficult ESPECIALLY if you like to wear full A-line  skirts!🙆🏻  But I do enjoy a challenge I must say! #bringitlancasterwinds 💪🏻💨

I did a little subtle pattern mixing today because it’s Saturday and it just feels right! LOL

I adore a gorgeous quatrefoil print!! I finally found what my scarfs print was called!! Haha! One day at JoAnn’s I was trying to explain to the fabric lady that this fabric was really popular and had a funky four square design! (Pretty clear huh?) She looked at me with that blank stare people give you when they think you’ve completely lost your mind!

After that interesting fabric hunt fail I was more determined than ever to find the name of that design so I did a little Google image search with the fabric and bam! Here is the proper  definition:

Quatrefoil:

an ornamental design of four lobes or leaves as used in architectural tracery, resembling a flower or four-leaf clover.

Well you learn something new everyday!

Let’s talk about this scarf for a second!!😍💕💙 Not only is it a gorgeous quatrefoil print with a stunning mint color, BUT it has a secret compartment zipper where you can stash your cash, card or lipgloss!😱

 Mind. blown.💣💣💣

This scarf is perfect for a day like this because when you’re out soulwinning (door knocking inviting people to church!) you need to have your hands free! I will definitely be storing my scan card,iPhone and some cash! 📱💳💰

GENUIS!

This cute scarf will be part of today’s giveaway thanks to Let’s Be Modest Shop!!

⚫️⚪️✨Black, White Striped Midi Skirt Outfit Featuring Two 12 Fashion✨⚫️⚪️

Hello friends and Happy Thursday!!

Boy what a week! Tests almost everyday got me feeling exhausted and stressed out but I have to remember to keep calm and dress up because that’s the only way I can relax and enjoy my day lol!

For today’s outfit I decided on going all monochrome with my new fav belt from Two 12 Fashion!!😍😍✨✨✨

You guys this belt was made for me!!!! Aaah!!!😍✨✨✨🙌🏻 Its gold,AND  it has a bow !! What more could you ask for?!?

I can see this belt with almost everything I wear! Gold metal bar belts are pretty awesome but that bow just makes it that much more glam!✨😍🙌🏻

When I saw the belt I knew exactly what I wanted to pair it up with: black , white, and gold for a chic monochrome outfit!

This skirt is definitely a classic! It’s from Taralynns Boutique !

It kind of reminds me of the popular Kate Spade striped midi skirt but for 1/3 of the price!!

My black solid colored top is from Ross which was on clearance for just $3! Best $3 spent!

My necklace is from Walmart and let me tell you how thrilled I am that Walmart has gorgeous boutique style necklaces for just $3-$5!

For shoes I had to wear my Valentino inspired Rockstud heels! They go with every single outfit!🙌🏻😍❤️😉

My bag was actually from a local Utah mall and they had a variety of colors: a nude/beige color, a red one and a black one! Knowing myself I knew I was going to dirty up the red and nude one way too quickly so I went for black!

I adore a good structured bag almost like a satchel that resembles an antique doctor’s bag!

For my hair I’m actually quite surprised on how it turned out considering I only did it in 15 minutes! You know those days where you are lazily curling your hair and you know it’s going to be a huge fail but you do it anyways? Well this morning was one of those days! I think what saved the curls was that I used the pin-curl technique. Basically you curl your hair and catch it before it falls in your hand and pin the curls up in a circle just like they did back in the 50s!

Well that wraps up today’s post!!

Hope you enjoyed it and make sure to keep  smiling today😄❤️

God Bless!

Xoxo,

Ashley
