I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart! Where? Down in my heart! Where?
(All you church kids know exactly what I’m talking about #sundayschool lol)
But more importantly why? Because for one, it is Friday, and twooooo….
it’s *wait for it*
NATIONAL DONUT DAY!
Do you know how many years I have missed this cutesy “holiday”?! Too many!
It would always roll around at the most unexpected time for me, and lo and behold social media would have me feeling quite left out, BUT not this year! I purposely wrote it down on my blogger calendar! #committed lol
As I was browsing through the internet I found the history behind donut day:
National Doughnut Day, or National Donut Day – celebrated in the United States of America, is on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
Salvation Army volunteers traveled overseas to set up service huts located in abandoned buildings near the front lines where they could serve baked goods to soldiers during World War I. Isn’t it neat how the small things like delivering donuts can brighten someone’s day, just goes to show us when things are done out of love, and with a servant’s heart, God uses and blesses it when we chose to do everything in love!
1 Corinthians 16:14
“Let all your things be done with charity.”
I literally have no words for this skirt except for YES!!
A big fat YES! Now I know what you’re thinking “You bought that skirt just for National Donut Day.” And why yes, yes I did! LOL
Funny story: I was just about to miss National Donut Day AGAIN, so I purchased this super darling donut print skirt from Amazon and luckily for me it qualified for Prime 2-Day shipping! Quick shameless plug: Amazon Prime is the best next thing to WiFi! Amazon prime student is amazing for free 2 day shipping on textbooks! Yes I’m talking to you procrastinating college student who orders their textbooks days before classes start! (GUILTY!) Amazon prime video, prime music, and even prime pantry (awesome way to never run out of daily essentials again!) are just some of the awesome benefits that come included with the membership!
My inspiration came from a vintage donut shop with soft hues of mint, blush and white.
If you follow me on Snapchat (#candid Modestlyhot lol) you know how freaked out (in the best way possible) I was at the quality of the donuts in the skirt! I was expecting something subpar to be perfectly honest, but to my surprise it really is a good quality skirt!
I prefer shopping at Amazon for their lightning speed in the shipping department!
I ordered a size up from a small because these are Asian sizes, and I have learned my lesson the hard way. The donut print skirt has a defined waistband, with big box pleating all throughout the skirt. It features a side zipper that I would be EXTREMELY careful when zipping it up, as it seems it could break at any given time. My roomate, Linla can testify to the fact that me and zippers don’t have a good track record! I ALWAYS find a way to break them, but thankfully she fixes them for me, it all works out.
Special Thanks to Charissa for her awesome photography!! She literally makes me feel so comfortable while she’s working her magic! So grateful to have met her at last week’s Utah Blogger Meet up! (Event pictures coming soon!)
It’s time to say goodbye for now! Stop by Krispy Kreme to receive your free donut, kick back and relax because you totes deserve it!
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your National Donut Day!
Verse of the Day:
1 Corinthians 13:1-2, 13
King James Version (KJV)
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
